Mold Removal Service

A mold removal service is necessary when your home is overrun by the fungus and you can’t do the job yourself. And because mold can not only cause seasonal allergy problems, but also more serious health concerns if it’s left to grow, removing mold from your home is a number one priority.

But whether you choose to do it yourself or hire a professional will depend on how serious the mold really is that’s growing in your home. If it’s only a small amount that’s less than 10 square feet, you should be able to remove the mold yourself.

However, if the mold growth is 10 square feet or more, or in an area such as an attic or crawlspace where access is limited, then it’s time to call in the professionals and let them handle the problem.

Before you hire just anyone, you need to do your homework to make sure the job gets done right. And while you it’s really not necessary to hire the most expensive company you can find for mold removal, you don’t want a person who’s just claiming they can remove the molds either.

And if you’re not sure where to begin, ask your friends, family and even neighbors if they know of a company they would recommend. Or check with your local chamber of commerce for a list of businesses that may be able to help. And of course don’t forget your local yellow pages.

Once you think you’ve found the right company for the job, make sure they are licensed and certified, and be sure to ask for references from other homeowners. Then, find out of your homeowner’s insurance will help pay for the company to help remove those molds. Even if they won’t pay for the services, they may be willing to at least cover any damages caused by water damage mold.

If not, you still may be able to save a little money by asking the company if they offer any discounts for their services. Most businesses are not obligated to mention discounts unless a customer asks first.

If they don’t offer any special discounts, you might try mentioning another company that you’ve been thinking about going with. Most businesses don’t like to know that they’re going to lose a sale to their competitor and will almost always be willing to make a deal.

Before you make that deal however, you’ll want to go over any concerns or issues you may have before the work is done or a contract is sign. And of course always get everything in writing, all the way down to even the smallest details.

Once you’ve sealed the deal and hired the company, make sure they follow what was agreed to in the contract, including the amount of time spent, costs, products used and so forth. On rare occasions you may find that a company isn’t willing to follow the agreement.

If the company you’ve hired for mold removal service isn’t willing to cooperate you may need to take charge and get the law involved. After all, it’s your home and your health that’s being affected.
