I don’t know about you, but I believe that a mold test should be required when buying or selling an older home. It should also be required for landlords who want to rent out their homes. So many of us are unaware of just how deadly black mold can be. I remember as a child smelling must in the dark basement of the homes my parents rented, never knowing that the musty smell I was breathing in was mold! My father is also not sure that a mold problem growing in the basement of a home he rented a few years ago, wasn’t a part of the problem that caused my mother to have a weak immune system while she was fighting cancer. He wasn’t even sure that the cancer wasn’t caused by the molds because she had never had a history of cancer in her family and it was very sudden. I don’t believe entirely that the molds caused the cancer, but I do believe they did not help her cancer because her immune system was never strong. So I think it did attribute to it at least. I think readers should check with their city at the very least to see what kind of laws there are that involve testing of toxic molds in dwellings. You never know when it may help save a life.
